Random Hole Diggers
Flash Fiction. Shorter, even. Fl Fiction.
The PITCH:
“We don’t advertise, you see, because then we get people who want you to dig a hole for a reason. Instead, we approach them, ‘we’re giving you a hole’. The ‘R’ in ‘RHD’ is for ‘random’, not ‘reasonable’ or ‘required’. Random Hole Digging – that’s the brand, that’s where the money is.”
The INTERROGATION:
That was the pitch to the Wall Street moneybags. How much did I need?
”About sixty bucks. Probably should have two shovels, case one breaks.”
The DENOUEMENT:
Those people, and I, are even richer now. Of course we were the first, and still most successful, random hole diggers in the United States – the Nation of Surprise Holes, as it will soon be known in diplomatic circles.
The CLIFFHANGER
:
Where will the next hole appear? Even I don’t know.
